Savi 

“Savi” is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language action thriller directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar under the banners of Vishesh Films and T-Series Films. Starring Anil Kapoor, Divya Khosla, and Harshvardhan Rane, this film is a remake of the 2008 French film “Anything for Her,” which also inspired the 2010 Hollywood film “The Next Three Days” featuring Russell Crowe. Drawing inspiration from the tale of Savitri and Satyavan, “Savi” centers on a devoted housewife’s daring attempt to break her husband out of a high-security prison in England. Unlike its French and American counterparts, the Bollywood adaptation features a female protagonist leading the charge.

Savi Movie Storyline

Nakul Sachdeva (Harshvardhan Rane) and his wife Savitri Sachdeva (Divya Khosla Kumar), known as Savi, are an Indian couple living happily in Liverpool, UK, with their son Adi (Mairaj Kakkar). Savi is a housewife, while Nakul works as a construction worker. Nakul faces constant humiliation from his racist boss, Stephanie Fowler (Jane Horn).

One morning, as Nakul is about to leave for work, police raid their home and arrest him for the murder of Stephanie. Despite Nakul’s denials, he is found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. Savi believes in his innocence, but the evidence is damning: Nakul’s fingerprints are on the murder weapon, and Stephanie’s blood is on his clothes. Nakul claims he was at the scene when he accidentally bumped into the real killer, transferring the blood onto his coat and leaving his fingerprints on a fire extinguisher. However, no evidence supports his story, including the missing button he insists fell off during the encounter.

Savi, along with Adi, continues to visit Nakul in jail, clinging to the hope of an appeal. Their lawyer and long-time friend, Anu, subtly suggests Nakul’s guilt, and the appeal is eventually denied due to insufficient evidence.

As time passes, Savi faces financial hardships and decides to break Nakul out of prison. She seeks advice from Joydeep Paul (Anil Kapoor), a notorious criminal who has escaped from jail multiple times. Paul advises her to prepare fake passports, gather money, choose a non-extradition country, and plan the escape meticulously.

While Savi plans the jailbreak, Nakul is bullied by a drug smuggling ring in prison and placed in solitary confinement for a month. The gang threatens to kill him unless he withdraws his complaint. Savi realizes she has only three days before Nakul’s attackers are released and decides to act.

In a desperate move, Savi robs two drug dealers, resulting in their deaths. The police quickly identify her as a suspect and begin a manhunt. Savi then manages to switch Nakul’s medical report with a fake one, stating he needs hospitalization. At the hospital, Savi frees Nakul at gunpoint, and they escape together.

The police find Savi’s jailbreak plan and believe the couple plans to fly from Manchester Airport to Marrakesh. However, at the airport, they discover there is no such flight and realize the clue was a deliberate misdirection by Savi. The couple had actually left by ferry.

Impressed by Savi’s determination, Officer Ayesha Hassen revisits the crime scene and finds the button Nakul mentioned, proving his innocence. Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, India, Nakul’s father receives an invitation from Savi to visit them in Bulgaria, revealing that they have settled there.
