“Madgaon Express” is a 2024 Hindi comedy film written and directed by actor Kunal Khemu in his first time as a director. It was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment. The movie stars Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam. It came out in theaters on March 22, 2024. The film got good reviews from critics and made ₹48 crore worldwide.

Madgaon Express Movie Storyline

In 1998 in Mumbai, three friends, Dhanush Sawant (Dodo), Pratik Garodia (Pinku), and Ayush Gupta, are in 10th grade and dream of going to Goa after their board exams. Their parents don’t allow them, so the trip gets canceled. In 2003, they plan the trip again after graduation, but their car crashes at the start of the journey, postponing the trip once more.

Years later, Pinku moves to Cape Town and Ayush to New York City, both becoming successful. Meanwhile, Dodo struggles with steady employment but keeps in touch with Pinku and Ayush through social media. Seeing their success, Dodo creates fake photos to pretend he’s living a lavish life.

In 2015, Pinku and Ayush decide to visit Mumbai and stay at Dodo’s “penthouse.” Dodo, worried, suggests they fulfill their old plan to go to Goa. He can’t afford flights, so he books train tickets on the Madgaon Express, pretending it’s for nostalgia. Pinku and Ayush reluctantly agree, planning to fly back.

Before boarding, Pinku’s bag is swapped with another, containing cash, a gun, and a hotel key. They argue but decide to discard the bag. In Goa, they party, take drugs, and spend the night with prostitutes. The next morning, Ayush is upset about cheating on his online girlfriend, Nisha. Dodo admits he kept the hotel key and cash from the stranger’s bag. They find cocaine hidden under a bed in the hotel room.

A lady gangster, Kanchan Kombdi, arrives and mistakes Ayush for Ganapath, the bag’s original owner. They escape the hotel and Pinku, affected by cocaine, needs medical help. A girl named Tasha helps them find a doctor, Danny, who treats Pinku.

The cocaine belongs to a gangster named Mendoza Bhai. Returning to the hotel, they find the cocaine missing and narrowly escape the police. Ganapath, angry about the missing cocaine, finds Pinku’s phone and reads messages from his girlfriend, Mariam.

Ayush and Pinku blame Dodo for their troubles. Dodo confesses his lies about being rich, explaining he felt like a “nobody.” Ayush and Pinku forgive him.

Mendoza and Kanchan were once married but are now rivals. Kanchan stole the cocaine as revenge on Mendoza. Ganapath works for Mendoza but secretly helps Kanchan.

The friends try to leave Goa but discover police are looking for them. Tasha offers help but leads them into a trap with Mendoza. Mendoza forces Dodo and Ayush to retrieve the cocaine from Kanchan’s place, disguised as women. During a raid by undercover cop Danny, Dodo and Pinku escape with the cocaine. Ayush and Tasha also escape, and Tasha develops feelings for Ayush.

Ganapath kidnaps Mariam, demanding the return of his money and cocaine. They plan to meet on the Madgaon Express. Mendoza and Kanchan also arrive, but the cocaine isn’t in the bag. The police, informed by Danny, arrest Mendoza, Kanchan, and Ganapath. The friends and Mariam finally leave Goa.

Before Ayush flies back to New York, Dodo admits he pretended to be Nisha online. Ayush is upset but forgives him. A year later, Pinku and Mariam plan to marry. Dodo wins a lottery and becomes rich. Ayush gets a friend request from Tasha after removing “Nisha.” Dodo, now wealthy, suggests they visit Las Vegas together.
