“Srikanth” is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language biographical film that chronicles the life of Srikanth Bolla, a visually-impaired industrialist and founder of Bollant Industries. Rajkummar Rao stars in the title role, with Tushar Hiranandani directing and Jyothika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar co-starring. The Hindi-language biopic “Srikanth” tells the inspiring story of Srikanth Bolla, an Indian entrepreneur who founded Bollant Industries in 2012 to employ unskilled and differently-abled individuals in creating eco-friendly products. The film chronicles Srikanth’s journey from his birth in Seetharamapuram village, Machilipatnam, in then undivided Andhra Pradesh, India, to his remarkable achievements despite numerous challenges.
Born visually impaired, Srikanth’s arrival initially brought joy to his father, who named him after cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth, only to be replaced by dismay upon discovering his blindness. In a moment of despair, his father nearly buried him alive, but his mother intervened and saved him. Srikanth faced bullying in his local school despite his brilliance.
The story progresses as Srikanth moves to Hyderabad and joins a special school where he excels but is expelled due to his arrogance. His life takes a turn when he meets his mentor, Devika, who supports him in filing a court case to study science despite scoring 98%. She encourages him to apply abroad, and he becomes the first international visually impaired student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) after being denied entry into the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). At MIT, he finds support from two students who help him achieve his dreams. During his college days, he meets Swati through social media, and she becomes fascinated with him.
After graduation, Swati, now his girlfriend, urges him to return to India to realize his dreams. With his mentor’s help, Srikanth starts a computer institute, which fails. Undeterred, he partners with Ravi Mantha to establish Bollant Industries, providing jobs primarily to the disabled. Despite misunderstandings with his partner, Srikanth ultimately achieves the success he envisioned, thanks to his mentor’s unwavering guidance.
